Neches Bluff Overlook
Forest Road 511-A leading into this campground is bumpy and potholed, requiring you to take it slow if you’re towing a trailer or driving a motorhome, and the soft dirt gets muddy during rains. And even though the road seems narrow, there is actually quite a bit of room at the campground to turn around.
Our experience with this campground has been that it’s actually quiet during the week. It’s a great place to sit outside by a campfire at night and listen to coyotes howl.
Overall, there seems to be five to six campsites here, some of which are large enough for full sized rigs. For the most part, however, this campground is more popular with tent campers.
The town of Alto, TX is only seven miles away, an easy 15 minute drive considering the bumps and potholes in the forest road. There’s a grocery store there along with a Tractor Supply and a Dollar General.
