Fort Anahuac Park
To get a camping permit, you call the County office (see phone number above), and then e-mail them a photo of your driver’s license. They will e-mail you a permit. The office is closed on weekends, so make sure to take of this in advance.
Fort Anahuac Park is a popular destination for locals in Anahuac and nearby communities. You should expect plenty of people. In our experience, campsites can be difficult to come by during the weekend, so it’s best to get there during the week.
There are no designated campsites. You are advised to camp anywhere off the road, but pick locations where grass is sparse, or where it appears others have camped before.
Also, beware of alligators, they are everywhere.
