Bolivar Flats Beach

When entering the beach from Rettilon Road, the beach towards the left (northeast) is free, while the beach to the right (southwest) requires a Bolivar Beach Sticker. Only the first 1/4 mile of the beach from Rettilon Road northeast to where a small creek washes into the Gulf is free. On the other side of the creek, east to Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge, requires a Bolivar Beach Sticker.

This is a very popular beach for locals. Also, a lot of campers and RVers come here. Much of the beach is solid enough where you won’t need 4WD, as long you don’t stray too close to the water.

In our experience, come here from Monday to Thursday to enjoy a smaller crowd.
