Yarborough Pass, Padre Island, TX
You will drive about 15 miles from the entrance to South Beach, and just before you reach mile marker 15, you will see the road on your right taking you to Yarborough Pass. Keep your eyes open because you can easily miss it.
The first half of this road is soft sand, and you absolutely must have 4WD to get through it. After that, the road becomes much more firm.
You do not have to camp where the four shade structures are, though these structures are designed perfectly for tying hammocks up to. You can still disperse camp along the beach.
In our experience, it’s very peaceful here. Very few people camp here, though there are some who come here just to look around. We found that it can get very windy here too.
