Camping on Long Jim Loop
Probably the most popular place for boondocking near Grand Canyon, Long Jim Loop is also the toughest to find an open site during the weekend and summer. It’s close enough to Tusayan Village that you can just walk there and pick up supplies or get something to eat.
When camping here, you’re only 7.0 miles (16 minutes) from the South Rim View Point at Grand Canyon Village.
The road through here is well-packed, suitable for any vehicle. Most of the sites here are large enough for full sized RVs. There is more noise from nearby campers because sites are placed close together. There is also noise from tour helicopters throughout the day along with the traffic running through Tusayan Village.
In our experience, Long Jim Loop offers the closest camping near the main attractions at Grand Canyon, keeping you close to amenities at Tusayan Village, and offering a solid choice of campsites as long as you come here mid-week.
