Camping at Oak Point Dispersed Camping Area

Forest Road 151 is firm-packed dirt suitable for any vehicle, including motorhomes and trucks pulling trailers. However, Oak Point Dispersed Camping Area is small and not really set up for large rigs. Even small Class A RVs will have a tough time getting turned around if all sites are taken. Otherwise, these campsites are suitable for cars, vans, pickup truck campers, or small trailers.

There are no amenities here. It’s just a boondocking area officially designated by the Forest Service. There are four to five previously-used sites here located along the riverbank, including an additional site that turns back away from the bank. These sites are close together, and wouldn’t offer any privacy if full.

Otherwise, this is great option if Rio Chama Campground, the Forest Service’s primary, free, developed campground just another 3/4 mile up the road, is full.
