Camping along Forest Road 147

While Forest Road 147 is a part of Sabine National Forest, it’s also operated in conjunction with Sabine River Authority of Texas, which manages Toledo Bend Reservoir.

Located near Huxley, TX, this small dispersed camping area provides a serene camping experience along the shoreline. Most people who come here simply want a peaceful place to stay while remaining within driving distance to nearby towns of Huxley, Shelbyville, and Center. The site is surrounded by tall trees and ample shade.

On weekends, locals will often come here for parties. During the week, however, it remains empty. There are no trash cans, so pack out your garbage. Remember to bring plenty of mosquito repellent too.
