Camping at Indian Mounds Campground
Indian Mounds Campground, situated along the Toledo Bend Reservoir near Hemphill, TX, offers a straightforward camping experience with a mix of basic amenities and natural surroundings. This campground features several primitive campsites suitable for tent camping, along with a few sites that can accommodate small RVs or trailers. Each campsite includes a fire ring and picnic table. The campground has a boat ramp providing access to the reservoir, facilitating activities such as boating and fishing. There are no electrical or water hookups available, and campers must rely on portable sanitation solutions as there are no restrooms or showers on-site.
Campsites are spaced well-enough apart to offer some privacy, with enough distance from one another to accommodate small groups. The campground area is covered with trees that provide shade throughout the day. A network of trails in the surrounding forest allows for hiking and wildlife observation. The main road into the campground is unpaved but generally passable for most vehicles, although larger RVs may find it challenging to navigate.
