Camping at Oak Flat Campground

Oak Flat Campground is located on the north west side of the forest with easy access off the I-5 freeway. It’s a popular basecamp for folks hiking to Whitaker Peak, as well as for short drives to Piru Creek at Frenchmens Flat.

Access road is paved the entire way except for the campground itself which is hard-packed dirt and gravel. Campsites are small to medium in size, suitable for cars, vans, pickup truck campers, and small trailers no more than 22 feet in length. Most campers who come here in their cars and pitch tents. There are a lot of families with kids who come here.

A pass is required to camp here. You can get an Adventure Pass (see list of locations where to buy this), or buy the Interagency Pass online. Forest rangers will come by to check for passes.
