Wolf Creek Dispersed Campground is a free, boondocking area offered by Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. It's only amenities are a set of vault toilets, otherwise you're on your own with trash, tables, or campfire. There's enough room here for five to six campers, including small to medium-sized trailers.

Camping at Wolf Creek Dispersed Campground

This campground is located along Wolf Creek Road, about 5.1 miles south of where it branches off of CA-4, and about 12.4 miles south of the town of Markleeville, CA. It’s right across the road from Wolf Creek Trailhead.

Conditions along Wolf Creek Road gets rough in places with some steep climbs and descents. High ground clearance is recommended due to ruts and dips. As long as conditions are dry, it’s still suitable for 2WD. This is a well-shaded boondocking area nestled amongst tall pines bordering Wolf Creek. The sound of rushing water creates an idyllic camping experience.

Wolf Creek Dispersed Campground is primarily a destination for hikers and horseback riders. There are also cattle that wander through here, so watch out for patties and horseflies.
