Camping at Mt. Ashland Campground
Access to Mt. Ashland Campground starts at Interstate 5, taking Exit 6 for Mt. Ashland. From here, you turn right, pass under the Interstate, then left along Old Highway 99 S for 0.7 of a mile, and turn right on Mt. Ashland Ski Rd. Follow this road for 9.5 miles. You’ll pass the entrance to the Ski Resort, and the road will change names to Forest Road 20. The campground is just 0.7 mile from the ski resort entrance.
The entire route to the campground is paved.
There are trash cans at the campground, even though the forest service says there are none.
This is a highly popular campground and as a result, it is also highly patrolled by forest rangers. It’s common for rangers to remove full-time nomads from Mt. Ashland Campground that they suspect are trying to use it as a temporary residence.
