Camping at Canyon Creek Road
According to the Motor Vehicle Use Map for Bighorn National Forest (see link below), dispersed camping is allowed all along Forest Road 25 (Canyon Creek Road), as well as other adjoining roads (Forest Roads 440, 420, 421, 452). However, the map marker noted above is the most popular area.
If you don’t happen to find any previously-used campsites available, note that the Motor Vehicle Use Map allows dispersed camping anywhere along these roads, but no more than 300 feet from the side of the road. Meaning, you are allowed to create a new campsite.
Roads are firm-packed dirt and gravel, mostly suitable for any 2WD vehicle without much bumps and dips. There are some areas with heavy tree-cover which may impede taller trailers depending on your tolerance for scratches. Eventually, the road will take up to Canyon Creek itself where it crosses over the road, which will require 4WD and/or high clearance to get through.
