Free Camping Along the Klamath River
Sluice Box River Access offers free, dispersed camping within Klamath National Forest. There is enough room here for a few full-sized RVs, along with more room for several cars, vans, and pickup trucks. Camping at Sluice Box River Access
Access to this river access and dispersed camping area is all paved along CA-96 “Klamath River Highway”. The town of Seiad Valley, CA is only 1.5 miles to the east. There is a small grocery store there, but no gas. The nearest gas station will be in Yreka, about 52 miles to the east.
While the area is large, much of it is rocky beach area, not suitable for vehicles. The only actual vehicle parking and camping is closer to the highway. It’s a decent camping area if you need sunshine for solar panels.
