Camping at Airport Flat Campground

Located just minutes from Gerle Creek Reservoir, Airport Flat Campground is nestled beneath a grove of tall Sequoias and Pines with the gentle sound of water trickling down Gerle Creek. For decades this was a destination for hiking groups, today it has become a party place for groups of weekend revelers towing their fifth-wheels up to get drunk.

Access road into this campground starts at US-50 at Ice House Road, about 8.5 miles east of Pollock Pines, CA. From here, it’s a 23.9 mile drive to Wentworth Springs Rd, which you take another 2.5 miles to the campground. The good news is that the route is paved the entire way.

Airport Flat Campground has several large sites capable of accommodating full-sized RVs.

Your best bet is to arrive on a Sunday if you want to avoid the noise and merriment of the weekend.
