Camping at Big Flat Campground

Access to Big Flat Campground starts at the town of Coffee Creek, CA along CA-3. Take Coffee Creek Rd west for 19.0 miles to the campground. The drive in from Coffee Creek is rough and rocky, but still firm packed enough for any 2WD vehicle, including low clearance. Plan for a slow drive in.

This is a rarely used campground due to the long, slow drive from Coffee Creek. Most people who come here are only interested in the trails leading into the wilderness. It’s a great place if you want some peace and quiet along with the sound of rushing water from South Fork Salmon River.

Campsite are generally small, best for single vehicles like vans, pickup truck campers or small trailers no longer than 24 feet. There are horse corrals here, but it will be slow driving due to the bumpy road.
