Camping at Big Tesuque Campground

Big Tesuque Campground sits along a bend in the highway at a scenic area of Aspen. The campground is very busy, especially in the fall colors season season. During the snow, people come up here to slid down the mountain side on sleds and inner tubes.

At an elevation of 9,675 feet, it’s not for folks with cardiac issues or the “oxygen challenged”.

It’s still a popular destination for road nomads because it lies just 12 miles from the downtown of Santa Fe, making it a great place for van dwellers, car campers, or other full-time vehicle residents who can get away with parking in smaller areas.
