Free Camping at Chiriaco Summit

There is a developed campground, with no hookups, no trash dump, no other amenities, located at Chiriaco Summit, behind the General Patton Museum, offered free to visitors. It’s a popular option for visitors to Joshua Tree National Park. Chiriaco Summit is a fuel station with convenience store and restaurant, that also offers a propane tank refilling station. The campground has 20-25 campsites suitable for small to medium-sized RVs, as well as one site for 40+ foot rigs. There are no reservations, first-come, first serve. There is a camp host on site.

How Crowded: Rarely crowded, almost always plenty of campsites available.

Road Conditions: hard packed gravel road into the campground and throughout. There is a turnaround at the end.
