Free Camping on Canyon Ferry Lake, MT

Duck Creek Campground is a free designated dispersed camping area managed by the US Bureau of Reclamation. There’s enough room for about twelve (12) campsites, and is large enough to accommodate large, full-sized RVs. There are no amenities, not even trash cans. But it’s one of the least visited of the free campgrounds on Canyon Ferry Lake.

Duck Creek Campground, Townsend, MT

How Crowded:  Duck Creek Campground tends to get few campers due to being the least known and least documented of the free campgrounds on Canyon Ferry Lake. Still, it’s recommended you get here during the week to secure the best sites along the lakeshore.

How Noisy or Peaceful: It stays quiet at this campground, even on weekends due to not getting as many campers as the other free campgrounds.

Cellular Phone Signal: Cellular signal comes in average to good with all three carriers, Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T.

Road Conditions: Entrance from Highway 284 is a hard packed dirt and gravel, mostly smooth, and suitable for any vehicle.

Amenities Within Campground: none.

Cost of Camping: free
