Camping at Foster Park

Like with many county parks, the best time to get here is during the week from Monday to Thursday. Otherwise, this is a popular place for weekend picnics, and you’ll likely encounter a lot of noisy kids.

The park is well shaded. During heavier creek flow, the water rushing out of the dam offers a pleasant audio to help you to get to sleep. The City of San Angelo is located about 12 miles to the east along US-67.

In our experience, it’s a great place for a few days of camping if traveling through the heart of Texas. We did find some trash laying about, and the grounds are not quite level, but you can find enough space to maneuver around until you something level.
