Greasy Spoon Designated Camping Area, Sedona, AZ

Crowdedness: The campground’s popularity is evident, with reports of high occupancy levels. Some visitors found the area to be busy, though it tends to vary from mid-week to weekend. The road leading to the campground, FR-525, can be congested, and campers should be prepared for a competitive environment.

Noise Level: Reports on noise levels vary. While road noise from occasional commercial vehicles is mentioned, some campers found the area surprisingly quiet and peaceful, particularly in the evenings and at night. However, a few noted disturbances from nearby cattle.

Cellular Phone Signal: Verizon and T-Mobile tends to vary from average to good, while AT&T remains weak.

Road Conditions: The condition of FR-525, the main access road, is a common point of discussion. It is described as a long, gravel washboard road, with varying degrees of roughness. Road maintenance is evident, with reports of crews addressing issues promptly. Campers with standard vehicles may find the road manageable, while those with high clearance are recommended to explore deeper into the area.

Campground Cleanliness: The cleanliness of the campground is a mixed bag. Some campers reported picking up random bits of trash, but it appears to be sporadic rather than a widespread issue. Additionally, there are mentions of areas being closed off, possibly due to misuse or environmental concerns. The new regulations implemented on September 1, 2022, limiting camping and campfires off FR-525, were introduced to address issues of waste and land abuse.
