Camping at Indian Creek Dispersed Area

Indian Creek is one of several designated dispersed camping areas along Palisades Reservoir. It’s situated in a scenic valley with forested hillsides rising from the water and towering up towards snow-capped mountains. The reservoir has about 70 miles of shoreline and six access roads have been built. Public use facilities include five campgrounds, five picnic areas, and six boat ramps. Two boat clubs have facilities on the reservoir and private cabins have been constructed under permit from the Forest Service. Fishing, motorized and non-motorized boating are all popular activities on the reservoir.

Access road into Indian Creek starts out paved, but changes to firm-packed dirt, suitable for any 2WD vehicle.

Maximum camping limit here is subjected to Forest Order 04-15-23-205…

  • From May 1 to September 1, five (5) days in a 14-day period in the same 5-mile radius
  • From September 1, to May 1, normal occupancy rules apply (see Associated Documents below)
