Camping at Kingston Campground
Generally, open May to October as weather and conditions allow, Kingston Campground is the northern-most entry point to Toiyabe Crest National Recreation Trail by the Kingston Trailhead. Otherwise, it’s also a popular campground for fulltime RVers looking for a cool respite from the summer heat.
Access into the campground is along Kingston Canyon Rd (NF-012 on Google Map). This road is firm-packed dirt, suitable for any 2WD vehicle, though it can be bumpy in places. The entrance into the campground is a narrow, wooden bridge over Kingston Creek, yet remains open for full-sized RVs.
Groves Lake is a short 1.8 mile drive further up the road from the campground, and the campground is about 28 miles to Spencer Hot Springs. The town of Kingston offers no amenties, aside from a saloon. Otherwise, all fuel and supplies must come from Austin, about 33 miles away.
