Lake Winnsboro Park
Located just beyond an exclusive neighborhood of lakefront homes is this tiny county park at the end of a peninsula. Originally created for day use activities, particularly fishing and launching kayaks, it has since been taken over by full time road nomads using this as an overnight or weekend stay.
There are no marked campsites aside from the presence of picnic tables. People just pull off the road and camp wherever there is room and somewhat level ground. It’s peaceful here, it’s quiet, and you can get a good night’s sleep. However, locals from the nearby neighborhood will come in here and expect to be able to use the facilities, after all it’s their property taxes that’s paying for this.
If you do come here, please make sure to pick after yourself, and keep the noise down, or else locals may just petition the county to prohibit camping here.
