This is a developed campground offered for free by Gila National Forest with only a handful of campsites. 4WD with high clearance is required to reach the campground, though much of the drive up here is probably suitable for 2WD, low clearance. It's just about the last 3/4 mile there where the roads gets rough.

Otherwise, there is plenty of dispersed camping along North Star Rd before you get to that last 3/4 mile, where you could tow something larger.
Rocky Canyon Campground is meant more for hikers, 4WD enthusiasts. It’s a great place if you want some amenities from a campground, but still want to get away from most people. It has only two picnic tables and just one porta-potty.
