Sargent Beach Park
This was originally named “Chamber Park” because it had been owned by the Sargent Area Chamber of Commerce, who then gifted it to the County of Matagorda in 2000, who then renamed it to “Sargent Beach Park”.
While signage at the entrance states that a “Beach Permit” is required, it is not clear where these permits should be obtained from. The sign says that permits can be obtained at local area businesses, however when we sought out a permit, the only local area businesses are the bait and tackle shop and restaurant on the other side of the bridge, and they didn’t know about it.
In our experience, Sargent Beach Park is best used an overnight stop because during the day, particularly weekends, it can get busy here, and if you were to drive or tow a medium to large sized RV, the other cars will just block you in. It also gets noisy here at night from people having parties into the late hours.
As far as we could tell, there is no limit on how long you can stay, and we never encountered law enforcement checking on permits.
