Tishomingo National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) is located in southern Oklahoma, just south of the town of Tishomingo, OK. Camping is restricted to either the NWR’s designated campground, or one of seven single campsites located within the Wildlife Management Unit.
Tishomingo NWR Campground
This free, developed campground has six (6) paved back-in sites plus one additional handicapped site. No reservations, first-come, first-serve. Comes with picnic tables and cooking grills, and a maximum stay of 14-days. See map and details.
Wildlife Management Unit Single Sites
These free, single campsites are located within the Tishomingo Wildlife Management Unit (WMU) and are situated close to lakes and rivers. They each come with picnic tables and fire rings. The sites are small, suitable only for cars, vans, and pickup truck campers. Some may accommodate small trailers less than 20 feet in length. These sites are limited to 7-days maximum stay.
Fees, Reservations, Permits
Tishomingo NWR and the Wildlife Management Unit are free to enter. There are no reservations for any of the campgrounds or campsites. Permits are not needed for camping or hiking.

- Open from sunrise to sunset; nighttime traffic is prohibited, except for night fishing and camping.
- Drive only on designated roads.
- Seasonal hunting and fishing opportunities are offered; be sure to obtain the regulations and permit.
- No horses, all-terrain vehicles or dirt bikes are allowed on the refuge.
- Pets are allowed on the refuge but must always be kept on a leash and under control of the owner.
- Fires are permitted only at designated areas within the provided fire pits.
- Swimming, personal watercraft (i.e., jet ski), waterskiing and air boats are not permitted.
- Take all litter with you or place in designated bins.
- Target shooting is prohibited.
