Tajique Campground, Estancia, NM

This is a developed campground offered for free by Cibola National Forest. It's a small unit with six sites intended for cars, trucks, and vans. Small RVs can get in, along with teardrop trailers. Anything larger won't be able to get in. It's intended for tent camping, but sleeping in your vehicle is course, fine.

Red Cloud Campground, Corona, NM

This is a developed campground offered for free by Cibola National Forest. It has five sites, most of which are long back-in sites suitable for full sized RVs. There are also a few make-shift campsites that could serve as overflow sites. Elevation here is at 7,600 feet. The area is a an old mining district.

West Side Highway 67, Grand Canyon NP

The east side of Highway 67 along the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park has more forest roads and more camping opportunities than the west side. Served by Forest Roads 22, 270, 222, 1046, 1047, 1048, 1049, 1050... This is where most dispersed campers go to find free camping.

Forest Road 302, Grand Canyon NP

Forest Road 302 starts at Highway 64 inside the town of Tusayan and heads east. Historically, the first 1/4 mile of this road was off-limits to camping, but it seems these days there are often people still camping within this restriction. Still, even when you get past the 1/4 point, there are dozens of previously-used sites to choose from.

Forest Road 305, Grand Canyon NP

The first mile of Forest Road 305 has dozens of previously-used dispersed campsites, as well as dozens more along spur roads leading off from it. The road itself is firm packed dirt suitable for any vehicle or RV, but don't stray too far off road as the dirt gets soft.

Angel Peak Campground

This is a developed campground operated by the Bureau of Land Management through their Farmington Field Office. There are nine sites with picnic tables and fire rings. Most of these sites are large enough for full sized RVs. Access into the campground is from Highway 550, then take an unmarked dirt road heading east (Rd 7175) about six miles to the end.

Haley’s Ferry Boat Ramp

This is a small boat ramp and recreation area along Forest Road 100, on the north side of Bayou Siepe. It's administered co-jointly with Sabine National Forest and Sabine River Authority of Texas, however rules for the national forest apply here. Aside from the boat ramp, there is a vault toilet, but nothing else.

Lake Trammell Park, Sweetwater, TX

Much of the free camping is found on the east side of the lake, though there are some places on the west side too. Lake Trammell is owned by the City of Sweetwater, though its well outside of city boundaries. There is very little information about the city's camping policies towards this lake, though many people continue to camp here without incident.
