Thorp Spring Park, Granbury, TX

This little park operated by Brazos River Authority doubles as a campground even though it doesn't appear to be a campground. It's more commonly known as a parking lot for a soccer field. The only amenities are trash cans, a restroom facility, a porta-potty, a boat ramp, and a fishing pier.

De Cordova Bend Park, Granbury, TX

Operated by the Brazos River Authority as a campground and picnic area, De Cordova Bend Park is a popular area where local families go for weekend campouts. Appointed with picnic tables, restroom facility, boat ramp, trash cans, and fishing pier, expect to find this crowded on weekends, with parties going well into the night.

Pleasure Point Park, Winnsboro, TX

Pleasure Point Park lies at the end of a peninsula at the south-west portion of the lake. It's owned by Wood County and was originally intended as a day-use area for fishermen, but has since been used by full time road nomads as an overnight or weekend stay. There are picnic tables here and trash cans, but not much else.

This tiny park is administered by Wood County intended as a day-use area, but has long been used by fisherman who camp here over the weekend. There are no designated campsites, just grassy areas where you can pull off the road.

Fort Sherman Dam Recreational Area

Fort Sherman Dam Road runs through a small peninsula at the north-east side of Lake Bob Sandlin. The road provides access to the offices of Titus County Fresh Water Supply District #1. Thomas Lake Park, Naples, TX

Thomas Lake Park is operated by the Army Corps of Engineers as a free campground and boat ramp along Thomas Lake, about 10 miles north east of Naples, TX. The campground has picnic tables, and trash cans, and that's about it. The campground and boat ramp are under the jurisdiction of Wright Patman Lake.

Jackson Creek Park, Douglassville, TX

This Army Corps of Engineers campground is heavily wooded, but comes with the usual amenities the ACOE is known known for, including restrooms, picnic tables, fire rings, and boat ramp. The campsites here are small, and may be difficult, if not impossible, for larger RVs to get in and out of.

Joe Benton Park, Nocona, TX

Joe Benton Park is owned and operated by the City of Nocona. It's one of two free campgrounds the city operates on Lake Nocona (the other being Boone Park). Joe Benton Park offers a lakeside camping, but no hookups or dump station. It's strictly primitive, though there is porta-potty on site and trash cans.

Lake Daniel Campground, Breckenridge, TX

About seven miles south Breckenridge, TX is Lake Daniel. The city-owned campground is located along the northern shore, on the west end of the dam. The campground is free, but has very limited accommodations. There are only two sites large enough for full-sized RVs, and about two or three more sites for small to mid-sized RVs.

Game Warden Slough, Breckenridge, TX

Operated by West Central Texas Municipal Water District, this campground doubles as a public park area on the north end of the dam. It's a 27-acre facility for picnicking, fishing, swimming, and primitive camping. There is a restroom facility, picnic tables, trash cans. ATV's and other off-road vehicles are not allowed in the park.
