Soda Lake, Pinedale, WY

Soda Lake offers free, dispersed camping around its perimeter. Managed by Wyoming Game & Fish Department, this area is popular with RVers and campers due to its abundance of camp space and restroom facilities. Fishing, hunting, and trapping is allowed, along with boating, hiking and bicycle trails. It's normally open from May 1 to December 1.

Elgin Park Road, Buffalo, WY

Elgin Park Road is a popular dispersed camping area within Bighorn National Forest. Located off of US-16, about 17 miles west of Buffalo, WY, the road is also marked as, Forest Road 22 on USFS maps. FR-22 is actually a loop that intersects back with US-16 about 2.3 miles south. Dispersed camping is allowed all along FR-22 as well as the spur roads leading from it.

Louis Lake Road, Lander, WY

Louis Lake Road, marked as Forest Road 300 on forest service maps, is a popular dispersed camping area within Shoshone National Forest. Because of the high elevation gain from Louis Lake, and the sharp switchbacks along the road, longer Class A RVs generally do not attempt this campground, however there are several bumper-pull trailers and fifth-wheel trailers that make it up here.

Muddy Creek Dispersed Area, Buffalo, WY

Canyon Creek Road, Meadowlark Lake, WY

Canyon Creek Road is a popular boondocking area within Bighorn National Forest, about 10.5 miles east of Meadowlark Lake, and about 40 miles west of Buffalo, WY. The name "Canyon Creek Road" primarily refers to Forest Road 25, which branches off of Forest Road 440 along the south side of US-16, right at the Washakie County line. Look for brown signs marking the turn off for "Canyon Creek Road".

Grouse Mountain Dispersed Camping, Buffalo, WY

This is a free, dispersed camping area within Bighorn National Forest, located near Grouse Mountain. It's located along Forest Road 402 (marked as "403" on Google Maps). It's a just a grassy area with no amenities. According to the Motor Vehicle Use Map for Bighorn National Forest, you are allowed to camp up to 300 feet from the side of the road.
